Create your own unique piece of jewellery in Lucy Copleston’s private workshop set in the scenic splendour of the Vale of Clwyd – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales.

If you’ve never made anything before you will be amazed at what you can achieve in a single day – everybody leaves with a finished piece of jewellery. Workshop tuition sessions are customised to your individual needs and ability so you quickly master  techniques.

Lucy Copleston has a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art. Tuition is one-to-one which fast tracks your learning. Forward planning via email and phone ensures your idea is achievable. The fully equipped Workshop is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is a relaxing and inspiring  place in which to be creative, and you will find that jewellery making has a therapeutic effect.

Situated midway between the two ancient walled cities of Chester and Conwy it is ideally placed for other leisure activities of all kinds.


Most beginners want a  one day taster session. As a beginner you can choose from a selection of Acheivable Projects designed specifically for beginners. Contact Lucy lucy@exclusivewellery.co.uk to receive a selection of her Beginners One Day Projects in which you can learn all or any of the following techniques:

  • Silver soldering
  • Texturing with hammers and punches
  • Sawing, bending, drilling, forming and folding metal
  • Reticulation
  • Beading
  • Wire Wrapping

Wedding Rings:

Many people have visited the Workshop over the years to make their own wedding rings – with great success. Contact Lucy for her Wedding Ring Project information sheet.


Students with previous experience and beginners who want to pursue the craft further after their taster session can  go on to learn and develop more advanced  techniques including:

  • Enamelling
  • Gold soldering
  • Acid etching
  • Stone setting
  • Keum Boo
  • Wax model making for casting
  • Resin work
  • Rivetting

All  silver solders are free: students supply their own copper, silver, gold and gemstones. Please note for enamelling a £10 surcharge is made to cover electricity costs .

Every stage in the construction of your piece of jewellery is photographed and a portfolio of images recording your project is emailed to you.  Specific technique notes are supplied with a Book List,  Suppliers List and a Certificate of Attendance should you require one.

Aiming to sell your jewellery:

Lucy provides a valuable resource of information for students aiming to make jewellery for retailing including suppliers of tools and materials, hallmarking information, trade contacts and a list of essential tools for starting up your own small workshop.

For those wanting a weekend or longer course extending over more than one day, excellent local accommodation is available.     You can now purchase weekday or weekend tuition from our online shop.

    A seven hour day of one-to-one tuition costs £130 Monday to Friday and £140 Saturday.  Prices are per person. A 10% discount can be arranged for two students learning together as with couples who want to make their own wedding rings or two friends. Contact Lucy to discuss.

    Purchase Gift Vouchers

    Gift Vouchers for tuition make a special present and are available to purchase online. Vouchers are valid for one year.
